Analytical Inquiries

Clarifications on methodology, calculations, and data sources utilized by the MediaZuvano dashboard.

How do you calculate the 10-year OpEx multiplier?

We aggregate standardized domestic tariffs for electricity (based on a $0.15/kWh median) and water, combine it with actuary tables for replacement parts over a 120-month lifecycle, and divide the total projected operational cost by the base MSRP of the asset.

Are regional tariff variations accounted for?

Baseline calculations use North American and Western European median costs. For highly accurate local analysis, users must use our Output Terminal tool to input their specific local utility rates.

Why omit gas-powered appliances from standard tables?

Fossil fuel commodity pricing is highly volatile and frequently subsidized regionally, making long-term standardized forecasting statistically unreliable compared to electrical grids.

Does depreciation factor into the TCO models?

Consumer white goods have an effective resale value of zero after 60 months. We treat all hardware purchases as a 100% loss of capital on day one, focusing entirely on operating expenses.

How accurate are the phantom drain estimates?

Estimates are derived from laboratory testing of standby states for internet-connected (IoT) hardware. Variability exists depending on firmware updates, but baseline draws are consistently verified between 2W and 15W per device.

Is data processing localized?

Yes. The Cost Analyzer tools on this platform operate entirely client-side via JavaScript. Financial variables are not transmitted to external servers.
